Vice Admiral James Bond Stockdale was a prisoner of war in Vietnam for seven years and received the Congressional Medal of Honor. During his capture, Admiral Stockdale relied on a set of stoic philosophies that he and his fellow POWs adopted. These philosophies later named “The Stockdale Paradox'' developed the mental fortitude it took to survive such difficult times.
