After being a Prisoner of War in Vietnam for seven years, Vice Admiral James Bond Stockdale received the Congressional Medal of Honor. During his capture, Admiral Stockdale relied on a set of stoic philosophies that he and his fellow POWs adopted. These philosophies, later named “The Stockdale Paradox”, developed the mental fortitude it took to survive such difficult times.
